During the last two weeks, the air has been full of accusations and innuendo with regards to the debacle referred to as the "Missing Bush National Guard Memos". A professional news agency with decades of credibility to their credit now sees their number one anchor twisting slowly in the wind as pin after pin of their "story" is pulled out from underneath it. Not by other "professional" news sleuths, either, but by "pundits in pajamas" who made startling observations such as "That print doesn't look like a typewriter, it looks like Microsoft Word!" Of course those on the other side of the political fence are gleefully demanding to know "Who knew what and when did they know it? Did the Kerry people actually plant these false documents? Was it a vast left wing conspiracy? Inquiring minds want to know!!!"
The amusing, yet sad, assumption in all of this is the idea that the media is UNBIASED! That human beings can set aside their opinions, their emotions, their very world views and report even-handedly about ANYTHING, much less something as charged as national elections, is a very naive and simplistic view to take. Yet it is that very position that the media has been cultivating since there was a media. It is much easier to persuade someone to your way of thinking if they believe that you have no stake in the matter and no interest one way or the other. But don't let yourself think for one second that anyone in news is totally "unbiased". The trick is to openly advocate without giving the appearance of doing so. Every phrase and word is chosen for its paticular nuance of meaning and its ability to invoke images and emotions. Those in favor of abortion rights are "pro-choice" and never "pro-abortion" or "abortionists" or "baby-killers". Those wishing to protect the life of the unborn are "anti-abortion" and never "pro-life" An editor was questioned about these word choices and replied in so many words that those who opposed abortion were hypocrites and prejudiced and did not deserve fair treatment. So much for media non-bias.
Why does this take us by surprise, though? The educational system has been careful to shape the world view of their journalism students (among others) in the form of relativism, resulting in a tolerance for every ungodly thing under the sun. After all, how can I determine what is right and wrong for you? CBS and whoever else is surrounding this situation have just taken this to the logical conclusion. If the result is that the candidate I am against is hurt, then it MUST be the RIGHT THING TO DO(tm). Unfortunately, they ignore the words of Jesus. "I am the way, the truth, and the life." and "I am the Alpha and Omega (the A to Z) the beginning and the end". In other words, Unchanging Truth Embodied. No wonder the media's animosity is vehemently directed at the church. The only One who would dare stand and call them on the falsity of their world view is represented by His body, the church. What to do? "Be as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove" our Lord says. Discern in your spirit what is being said. Search out other sources. Pray. And I believe the Lord will show us the truth, and that truth will keep us free.

A Hearty Hello to All!
As I lay here recovering from a cold I decided, "What the heck. Every other crazy nutcase has a blog, so why not? Let's let her rip! I plan on just making random observations on a wide variety of things, if for no other reason than to give voice to a world view that you don't get to hear it the general media. A world view that looks at what a difference faith in Christ has in life. Jesus said "I've come that you might have life and have it more abundantly." That abundant life can't be confined to a building on Sunday morning. It has to make a difference in all of your live.
